Two players over at  Absolute Poker  are licking their wounds dearly after missing out on a $350,000 bad beat jackpot over what occurs to be one of the strangest hands played.

Let me first explain the jist of it so you stay interested.  Basically they were playing at a Bad Beat table at Ultimate Bet when they checked down their straight flushes to each other.  The total pot was $4.75.  Unknowingly, $.25 cents short of hitting a $350,000 Bad Beat jackpot.  The question is, why did they check it down to the river?  Let's recap what happened.

Two players, DanielMario, and Reloadngo, were playing on a Bad beat jackpot table when the first player was dealt 98 of hearts while Reloadngo was dealt AK of hearts.  The table was a No Limit Holdem $.5 table.  The only betting in the hand was preflop when Reloadngo raised to $2 with his 89 of hearts while the AK followed up with a call.

What happens next is one of the strangest things you'll see online.  Reloadngo flopped the Royal Flush gut shot draw.  He did not bet which would be standard.  The turn then came 10 of hearts giving DanielMario the straight flush.  Daniel checks and so does Reloadngo, both whom has just hit straight and Royal flushes.  Now that's some major slow playing!

What occurs next is too bizarre to explain.  Remember, Reloadngo has the absolute nuts and is last to act.  Daniel checks and the last to act is Reloadngo.  What does he do?  He checks the nuts!  The pot reaches $4.75 just shy of hitting the $350,000 jackpot by .5 cents in rake!

The only reasonable explanation we can come up for the strange play in this hand is either Reloadngo was multi-tabling and never realized what he had flopped.  Either that or they were not aware of the minimum rake requirement to hit the bad beat jackpot.  In either case, this has to go down as one of the worst Bad Beats on ironically a "Bad Beat" table in history.

Neither player has come forward to explain the situation nor did they say anything in the chat box.  As you may imagine, the chat box from other players at the table exploded as they lost out on money as well.  Unfortunately only the screenshot of the missed Bad Beat was captured.  More information on the rules of and sites of Bad Beat Jackpots can be found at CompatiblePoker.com
