The PGA’s Wyndham Championship begins this Thursday, and it’s always a big event on the calendar. This is also one of the oldest tournaments as well, founded back in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro (NC) Open.

It still takes place in Greensboro, remaining an event that’s popular with some of the best golfers in the sport. While the top names aren’t going to be competing, some past major winners are expected in the Sedgefield Country Club field

Here is a look at some of the odds to win the Wyndham, including our choice.

Internationals at Top

If you are going to bet on the Wyndham, start at the top with the favorites. As some of the top “domestic” players are sitting it out, examine the international contingent.

Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im are the current betting favorites to win, according to Wyndham Championship odds. Both are priced at +1800, and both know how to win on tour.

That’s still a ton of value. Keep a close eye on the board during the tournament, as the odds could change if these two golfers struggle early.

Best of Rest

Look at all the available odds before making a decision, even down the list, where there’s more value with “lesser” golfers.

Here are some of the entrants worthy of consideration…

Sam Burns +2000

Russell Henley +2200

Shane Lowry +2500

Adam Scott +2500

Ludvig Aberg +2800

Si Woo Kim +2800

Justin Thomas +2800

J.T. Poston +3000

Harris English +5000

Webb Simpson +5500

Gary Woodland +5500

Woodland and Simpson may be on the back nine of their careers, but both (at +5500) have proven they have a shot if at their best

Burns is priced at +2000, always with his name on the first page of the leaderboard. That doesn’t mean he’s been winning, but seemingly always in the mix.

Scott and Lowry, both listed at +2500, come into this tournament with a ton of motivation, trying to secure places at the FedEx Championship next Thursday-Sunday in Memphis. Thomas is in a similar position at +2800, but he’s just trying to find his game.

Thomas to Rebound

The fall of Justin Thomas has been a tough sight. He can’t seem to forge any consistency. It’s still clear that Thomas is one of the best golfers in the world, when things are right.

Several other players have spoken about Thomas and his skill. With that in mind, it’s the perfect time to back him at +2800.

It’s about getting value when betting on golf (or any sport), so a flier on Justin Thomas at +2800 to win the Wyndham Championship is worth a shot.

It’s not too early to consider a wager on the next international competition, with the U.S. an odds-on favorite against Europe, as per Ryder Cup odds.
