PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (15-5, 3.65 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Cole Hamels (7-4, 3.73)

Strasburg will be trying for the second time to obtain a career-high 16th win, getting a no-decision in his first attempt at Pittsburgh on Tuesday despite spinning seven scoreless innings. He has won 12 of his last 14 decisions, a run that began May 18 against the Cubs, whom he held to one earned run in eight innings of a 5-2 victory. The three-time All-Star, who needs nine strikeouts to reach 200 for the third time, has a 2.05 ERA in seven career starts against the Cubs.

Hamels went 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in his first three starts after returning from an oblique strain before returning to form his last time out. He yielded three runs and five hits over six innings against San Francisco on Tuesday while picking up his first victory since June 12. The 35-year-old has 17 wins against Washington - more than any other opponent.
