Indiana Online Casino Hopes Dealt Huge Blow Due to Corruption Scandal

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Gambling911.com) - Online casino gambling will not be coming to Indiana in 2024 due to a recent corruption scandal.

Sue Schneider brought this to our attention.

Rep. Sean Eberhart has pleaded guilty to federal charges accusing him of taking a $350k salary from Spectacle Gaming in exchange for support of HEA 1015, the legislation that resulted in Indiana becoming one of the first states to regulate sports betting following a 2018 SCOTUS ruling that abolished prior prohibition (The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act or PASPA).  The salary is considered akin to taking a bribe.

As a result, online casino gambling legislature introduction is ruled out for 2024. Both House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) and Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) agreed the fallout makes such considerations impossible.

The plea agreement does not include a specific sentence for Eberhart. Federal sentencing guidelines for the offense level are between 37 and 46 months.  He will also be required to pay $60,000 in restitution, which was his legislative salary.

Colts Improve Post Season Hopes But Star Player Injured

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (Gambling911.com) - Following their win over the Tampa Bay Bucs Sunday the Indianapolis Colts are now 7-6 and very much in the Playoff picture.  But the win came with a cost.

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor led the way for Indy on Sunday but played much of that game with an injured thumb and is unlikely to play this coming Sunday as further evaluation is required.

He carried the ball 15 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

The Colts Super Bowl odds were sitting at 125-1.

Ball State is a +10.5 Tuesday Facing Northern Illinois

MUNCIE, IN (Gambling911.com) - A 2-7 Ball State team comes into Northern Illinois taking on a team that's not much better (4-5 Straight Up).  Both sides are 4-5 Against The Spread.

We get a number of 9.36 with the actual number right on target at -9.5.

The Bowling Green defense stopped QB Kiael Kelly on a fourth-down sneak with 1:43 remaining in the fourth quarter deep in Ball State territory their last game.  The Cardinals lost 21-24.

Northern Illinois is also coming off a loss.

Jase Bauer threw for one touchdown and rushed for two more, Marion Lukes had 202 yards rushing and a score, and Central Michigan held off Northern Illinois 37-31 on a snowy Tuesday night.
