Betting on this year's Preakness Stakes was nominal after Kentucky Derby winner Country House was pulled due to illness, thus ensuring there would not be a Triple Crown winner in 2019.

Maximum Security, first called the winner two weeks ago at the Kentucky Derby, also did not show up for this weekend's Preakness.  He would later be disqualified due to interference.

In an ironic twist, War of Will was the horse most directly affected when Maximum Security came out from the rail, when the two almost clipped heels but averted disaster.
