Oxbow Kentucky Derby Odds at 40-1

Oxbow Kentucky Derby odds were coming in at 40-1.  You can bet on the Derby at SportsBettingOnline.com and receive up to 10 percent weekly cashback WIN or LOSE.

Oxbow won the Lecompte and came in 2nd at the Rebel Stakes.  He’ll be starting from the number 2 post position, which has yielded 9 wins in Kentucky Derby history.

Hall of Famers Gary Stevens and D. Wayne Lukas are looking for additional success with Oxbow running in this year’s Derby.

He now has long odds after an impressive showing in recent months.  This is due to a 5th place showing at his most recent race, the Arkansas Derby.

While the number 2 post position has provided a good amount of winners in Derby history, Matt Gardner of SBNation.com doesn’t feel Oxbow is cut out for the rail.

Oxbow drew about as bad of a post position as possible. I suppose the rail is worse, but the 2-hole isn't going to do this colt any favors.

Oxbow typically displays a good amount of early speed in his race, in fact he won the Lecomte Stakes in gate-to-wire fashion. In the Arkansas Derby, he didn't break particularly well and he ended up five to six lengths behind the leaders heading into the first turn.
