2015 Preakness Weather Forecast: Rain Chances Diminish But Isolated Storms Possi

As of Wednesday, the 2015 Preakness Stakes weather forecast called for a 30% chance of an isolated thunderstorm just prior to or at race time Saturday.

This is an improvement over Tuesday’s slightly more ominous forecast of a 50% likelihood.

A muddy track would certainly benefit the favorite American Pharoah as he has demonstrated the ability to run in such conditions.  Contenders Dortmund and Firing Line, on the other hand, have limited experience running on a muddy surface.

"If it rains, we know American Pharoah loves the mud," trainer Bob Baffert said, alluding to the colt's 6 1/4-length 2015 debut victory in the slop at Oaklawn Park in the Rebel Stakes (gr. II). "I don't know about Dortmund."

One still needs to follow the forecast closely as an increased chance of rain is anticipated Sunday.  Weather systems often arrive much sooner than initially projected.
