2015 Kentucky Derby Post Positions Results – American Pharaoh Draws Dreaded 20

The 2015 Kentucky Derby post positions results are in and the odds are expected to change dramatically for some entrants who drew the most dreaded of starting spots.

BetOnline

Ocho Ocho Ocho drew the post position most trainers hate, number one.  That said, number one has yielded the most winners. Granted, the last horse to win from this spot was Ferdinand in 1986.

Favorite to win this year’s Kentucky Derby, American Pharaoh, should see his odds dip a bit after drawing the number 20 post position. Only one horse, Big Brown in 2008, has ever won from this position.

5 and 10 are typically considered the best starting posts.  Dazing Moon and Firing Line, respectively, lucked out in Wednesday’s post position draw.

Mr. Z gets to start from the only post position that has never yielded a winner, number 17.

Here are the starting positions for each horse:

Gate 1: Ocho Ocho Ocho

Gate 2: Carpe Diem

Gate 3: Materiality

Gate 4: Tencendur

Gate 5: Danzig Moon

Gate 6: Mubtaahij

Gate 7: El Kabeir

Gate 18: American Pharoah

Gate 20: Far Right
