Doyle Brunson: Anurag Dikshit is Appropriately Named

Dec 28 2008 - 9:41pm

In his latest blog, the man behind one of online poker's fastest growing rooms, Doylesroom.com, speaks candidly about Anurag Dikshit, the man who two weeks ago entered a guilty plea for running an Internet poker firm, PartyGaming.  Doyle Brunson is having a tough time accepting the plea.  This is the first of its kind for an online poker room.

----

One thing for sure, Anurag Dikshit is appropriately named!  Dikshit was one of the owners of Party Poker and became a multi-billionaire when Party went public.  It looks like he would feel a sense of obligation to online poker, the industry that made him a rich man.  Instead, he folded up like an accordion and plead guilty to breaking some kind of mystery law and is paying a 300 million dollar fine and a possible 2-year jail term.  It certainly created some ill will from the other online poker sites.  I personally can't imagine what was going through his mind when he made his decision.

The Brunson family had a great Christmas, but as usual, everyone had way too many gifts.  My wife and I gave specific instructions to our children and relatives to not give us any presents.  We threatened to give any gifts that were given to us to the Salvation Army.  At least we slowed down the gifts, but there were stacks of presents for the rest of the family.  I got one present I'm not giving away, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seasons of "Two and a Half Men".  That show cracks me up.

I've already got a "football headache".  Even Casper won't stay in the same room with me when the games are going.  I can't believe how dumb some of the football coaches are.  They need to have a gambler on their staff to advise them.  After all the pro games and bowl games I'll be lucky if Louise doesn't throw me out of the house.

Speaking of my dog Casper, he charges the front door every time the bell rings.  He sleeps on my desk and jumps off when he hears someone at the door.  He has dislocated a front leg and a back leg landing on the hard floor.  I've got to put some padding on the floor where that won't happen again.

We had another cash game on High Stakes Poker.  Again, I can't talk about it but I will say I'll be going for my 15th straight win on the TV cash games next time I play.  I read somewhere that I play too tight in the games.  Hello!  I thought the object was to win the money, not put on a show to please the viewers.

Daniel:  Did I hear a Mexican golfer got shot yesterday?
Caddy:  Yes sir, They call it a hole in Juan.

Peace of mind pays

Unlike americans like us, I think he has done a good job in settling down things. Roman Polanski went hiding and even to this day, the law haunts him. He could spend his final days in Jail in a 4x4 cell. BTW, I think your references to names is not the right thing to do.

Anurag

Anurag is smarter when he is sleeping then any of us are awake. For whatever the reason he decided to make this decision it was most certainly well thought out. He is very un-selfish and a spiritual man and beleives in Karma (lets call him a "Guru') I am proud to know him..

Dik-SMART

Unlike Mr. Ayres, Anurag (like his partners Ruth and Vikrant) has always maintained a low profile in the industry... and that should be applauded by industry insiders. However, the fact is that he's been on the radar of US authorities for years. What good is all that money when you're forced to look over your shoulder at every turn? When was the last time Anurag left India? Or Ruth left Spain? Want to know what he was thinking? Peace of mind! The guy was smoking 2 packs of butts a day worrying... hardly sleeping and rarely leaving his house. In the end, $300MM is a small price to pay when you have an equal amount in your bank account. As far as Brunson and others not liking it... well that's understandable - thsy got beat to the punch. Any deals cut with authorities in the future will likely be more severe... but those deals are coming - just wait and watch.

Anurag Dick-shit

Mr Dick-shit is definitely the most dickless ball-less spineless billionaire in history! Cant figure out how he became a billionaire if he was so spineless.. sheer luck i suppose!

That would make two

Calvin Ayres is another. The guy from bodog "catch me if you can" only he's fled the country. Every one else is left to mop up his mess.
