Manchester United Odds to Win Premiership

As of June 20, 2011 Manchester United was still the slight favorite to win the 2011-2012 English Premiership League outright with odds of 7/4.  Chelsea came in at 11/4 across the board while Man City was listed 4/1.  Paddy Power was the only book paying £1 better on Man United’s chances.

Some of the big transfer news bound to impact Manchester United this upcoming season included Ashley Young completing his £17m switch from Aston Villa to Manchester United this week as soon as he agrees personal terms with the Red Devils.

Man United also stood a good chance of getting French star Raphael Varane.  United have reportedly lodged a bid of around £9 million for the footballer and his move there at press time looked promising, with news to come no later than Wednesday June 22.

"Given the clubs involved, it would be very hard to stop him [from moving]," Lens President Gervais Martel told La Voix du Nord.

"I hope this will be finalised in the next 48 hours - I have just spent four hours on the phone, and there are many things to settle."

In other news, Manchester United and Man City both lost out to Barcelona in the race to sign Udinese's Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez.
