LSU Odds to Win 2013 BCS Championship Get Longer After Tyrann Mathieu Dismissal

The dismissal of LSU star cornerback Tyrann Mathieu from the LSU Tigers has had some effect on that school’s odds to win the 2013 BSC Championship.

LSU was currently listed at 7/1 at Sportsbook.com, though some books did have the Tigers at 4/1 prior to the Mathieu suspension.  Alabama was currently the favorite at +450, with a potential to pay out $45 on every $10 bet.

LSU kicked Mathieu off the team Friday for a violation of athletic department rules.

Tyrann Mathieu's suspect coverage skills and overrated playmaking ability make him replaceable, ESPN.com’s KC Joyner suggested on Saturday.  Still, he points out that a SportsNation poll indicates a significant percentage of people believe this loss will cost LSU a shot at a national championship.

Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com writes:

Don't get me wrong: Mathieu wasn't the best player in the country. Heck, he wasn't even the best cornerback on his own team in 2011. That honor belonged to former LSU cornerback Mo Claiborne, a first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in this spring's NFL draft.

LSU enters this season ranked No. 1 in the USA Today coaches' poll.

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
