Green Bay Packers Signing Michael Vick: Odds Alert

According to a number of reports, Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson says that he wouldn't rule out signing troubled QB Michael Vick.

As it stands, the Packers have Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn and Brian Brohm on the roster as signal-callers.

The Over/Under on Green Bay's regular season win Total is 9.  They would pay 9/1 odds by winning the 2010 NFC Championship.

One sure fire way to alienate Packers fans further is by signing Vick.  They don't exactly need him.  Rodgers threw for over 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns.

The Packers President seems to agree.

"How do you say it, much ado about nothing," Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said Wednesday, during a media conference to announce the Packers' new lottery deal.

"I don't see anything there. I don't anticipate anything happening there."

If any team is going to sign Vick, it should probably be the Detroit Lions, who really can't go any lower than their 0-16 finish last season.  The Lions incidentally are a big favorite to win less than 5 games this season (-185 odds at Sportsbetting.com).

Of the 49 dogs saved, only one was so vicious it had to be euthanized. Twenty five went directly to experienced, carefully selected foster homes. The remaining 21, mainly because they were animal-aggressive, went to rehab at Dogtown, a state-of-the-art, no-kill sanctuary in Utah. A few will live out there lives there. The rest are expected to be adopted. A number have become therapy dogs -- surprising unless you know pit bulls are, by nature, slobberingly affectionate toward people.

So sad

Mr. Vick is so sick in the head you have to wonder what did he go through? I have hated him for so long but that makes me just as wrong as he is. Today, I am going to change myself and pray for him by name. I hope he lives a modest life and gives all the rest of his money away to people that risk their own lives to save the very kind of animals he hurt so badly. Jesus said " What you do for the least of them you do for me". Old people, poor people, sick people, children and animals have "less than" they are the least of them. The least of us. Instead of us giving him a second chance let's pray that he gives himself one. Mr. Vick has been given "more than" in many ways if he does not use it for good God will deal with him. If I can pray half as hard as I have hated and you can too, I just can't wait for all the goodness that can come out of this. I am much more concerned about the condition of his heart than I am about the condition of his relationship with a game that was made up for fun.

I wonder how many "free to good home" ads are answered in order to collect the "bait" animals to train fighting dogs? Standard practice for training fighting dogs is to get a puppy or stray dog and tape their mouth shut. This is done so the fighting dogs (With no resistance) can attack and tear, getting a taste for blood with out getting injured. .Mr. Vick had everything in the world going for him, still again and again he chose cruelty. This man is not going to punch a time clock and work on an assembly line in some factory. He is a sports figure with adulation and endorsements. That means he is looked up to. But in reality he is a piece of refuse that so happens to be a talented athlete. The NFL has sold its soul. Is everything short of murder their guideline for reinstatement? What a standard. No wonder our young people are confused between what is right and wrong. This nasty human will now make millions of dollars in front of a cheering crowd. The message? It must be OK to participate in the brutal rampant practice of dog fighting. In our society money is reward, lets give a standing ovation to the reinstated thug. Good luck to the team that takes him. As a Felon Vick cannot vote or sit on a jury he cannot be admitted to a state bar (become a lawyer). But he can play football in the NFL.

Lets take a moment to realize that would he did is criminal in our country. However ask yourself have you or someone you know ever commited a crime. He has been punished for his injustice by our very own legal system. He has served his debt to the court of law. He is a athlete simple as that, that is all he knows how to be, thats all he was ever trained to do is compete. We live in a world where we yes we pay milliions of dollars to a elite group of people that athletically entertain us. And just so happen he is one of them that tends to electrify a yelling crowd of spectators. No different than a Mike tyson, or OJ simpson, or even Pete Rose. We are a forgiving nation. Let GOD judge his actions not us lets do the christian thing and forgive and embrace, and love one another inspite of our faults or shortcommings.

What everyone fails to

What everyone fails to realize is that while we all may deserve a second chance in life, why does it have to be the NFL? I have worked with homeless and criminals getting their lives back in order and they struggle to get a basic job due to their criminal record. Yet everyone says Michael Vick should be allowed to play in the NFL again. I disagree, while second chances are a part of our forgiving nature, certain rights and privileges are just that, privileges. We do not deserve the right to play and receives millions and be careless and care free. Michael Vick's actions where heartless and inhumane. He deserves the right to work, but to say that he should play in the NFL and receive millions is not the correct justification. We earn forgiveness which takes time and Michael Vick should not be given a jersey because he went to jail and served a sentence given by the courts. He lied to the American public and used his position to influence and show just how arrogant he can be. A second chance at being a productive member of society yes, but a million dollar football player, I would have to say NO.
