The New York Giants have lost defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul for the rest of the season, thus casting doubts on the Giants post season hopes.

The Giants odds of winning the Super Bowl were set at 35-1.   They remain in the playoff hunt with an 8-4 record despite the very long odds of winning their respective division thanks to the Cowboys one loss this season.   Their current record is 4th best in the league.

JPP, as he is widely referred to as, suffered a groin injury in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

He was having a comeback season after losing his right index finger and parts of several others in a Fourth of July weekend fireworks accident last year.

NJ.com asked if the Giants can win Sunday’s game against the Cowboys without Pierre-Paul.

"It is going to be tough without him," linebacker and captain Jonathan Casillas added. "But next person up, we have to move on, and it is what it is."

James Kratch of NJ.com writes:

It's a devastating blow to the Giants. Pierre-Paul was second on the team with seven sacks, and he has been playing some of the best football of his career. The Giants still have Olivier Vernon, but losing Pierre-Paul significantly weakens their pass rush against the Cowboys' heralded offensive line.
