Buckeyes vs. Ducks College Football National Championship Betting By The Numbers

Buckeyes vs. Ducks College Football National Championship betting was some of the heaviest volume for a single day sports events the books have seen in some time.  Sportsbook.ag, which was offering a FREE 2nd bet after placing an initial wager on this game or any other event, broke down the numbers for us.

The books stood to lose the most money with an Ohio State outright win.

“It’s probably the second most heavily wagered and by far the most lopsided,” noted Gambling911.com’s Don Shapiro.

81% of those betting the money line (team to win outright) were backing the Buckeyes. The payout would be $16.70 for every $10 bet.

Spread action was about 60/40 favoring Oregon heading into Monday.

“The books will want Oregon to win but Ohio State to cover,” Shapiro says.  “And that cover would ideally be within 5 points.”

That’s because the books had moved the line from -7.5 and -5 points.  Oregon winning within that range would result in some savvy sports bettors making out on both sides.

The total for this game had an OVER/UNDER of 74.50 with action balanced.
