Browns vs. Bengals Free Pick

Our friends at Pregame.com, and more specifically professional sports handicapper Dave Hessler, have a free pick on the Browns vs. Bengals game.

Let’s face it, there’s probably not a lot of interest in this game outside of the sports betting community and a few diehard fans.  Sure the Browns are hoping for improvements this season and they should get off to a good start against Cincinnati.

Hessler is on Cleveland at -3.  His analysis appears below.

Analysis: I just bet this personally at -3. That's such a key number and probably won't be around for too terribly long. Football, as much as any sport, is all about getting the "key" numbers early. I will add to this reasoning as time goes by, but I cannot in good conscience release paid plays a month in advance. There are just too many variables, and that would be the case even had it not been for the lockout. There are always injuries that happen in the Preseason, not to mention we just don't know about locker room chemistry or how well some of the new coaches will be received.

We had a 62% season in the NFL last year by being combining patience with discipline, so there really is no good reason to do anything differently this year. I probably will play a few Preseason games, but I can assure you they will be selective. Just because I like betting College and Professional Football as much as the next person, I am not going to risk money for the sake of betting. We've been doing this successfully for too long to get over confident and dig an early hole.

So, I did bet this one because I just don't see, at THIS POINT, how the Bengals field a competitive team, and quite frankly really think the Browns come out with attitude thanks to Holmgren's regime and the success they can build on from last year. So, I'll throw this one down now, and the telling reason in the end to bet this early is that if Colt McCoy get injured they do have Seneca Wallace. Not that he's the greatest  QB to ever come out of Iowa State, but he is a capable back up, which is what would concern me betting early. Injuries.

Aiyuk-Deebo Trade Odds and ROY Shift

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
