Aston Villa v Blackburn Betting Odds

Aston Villa v Blackburn betting odds for 20 August 2011 had Aston Villa listed at 7/10, Blackburn 17/4 and the draw was priced at 5/2.  60 percent of the betting action was on Aston Villa.

John Motson of the BBC expects a potential romp by Villa.

Rovers are a different team without central defenders Christopher Samba and Ryan Nelsen. Both men missed last weekend's defeat to Wolves, as did Gael Givet, so Steven Nzonzi had to fill in. Blackburn lost three of five Premier League games without Samba last season and won only three of 10 without Nelsen. If both men miss out again, I expect Villa to prove quite a handful for Rovers.

On the surface, this game looks to have “draw” written all over it.

There have been more draws at Villa Park (113) than at any other team in Premier League history.  Villa have scored exactly one goal in each of their last four Premier League matches at Villa Park.  Blackburn, meanwhile, have lost only one of their last four away matches.

Aston Villa have lost only one of their last nine Premier League matches.  With that in mind, we don’t see a loss for Villa.  The draw or a win seem favorable though the odds are not particularly.
