Who Will Win American Idol?

The season 8 finale of American Idol was perhaps one of the best as the showman and favorite Adam Lambert took on the dark horse acoustic performer Kris Allen.

It almost looked early on as if Allen could steal this thing away from Lambert with a first performance that was without a doubt his best of the season.  Both Idols chose their favorite song already performed with Adam choosing his phenomenal take on Tears for Fears "Mad World".  How does one top that?  Kris Allen managed to do just that with "Ain't No Sunshine".  It was enough for judge Simon Cowell to call the first round for Kris.

But the last two rounds went to Adam Lambert.  Adam's version of Sam Cooke's  "A Change is Gonna Come" was brilliant while Kris' take on the Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" didn't quite catch the imagination of the judges.

The third performance of the night for both Idols was of the Idol judge Kara Dioguardi co-written "No Boundaries", a nice power ballad with Adam on top of his game (though not his best performance) while Kris hit some pitchy notes and it looked to some of us here at Gambling911.com like he couldn't wait for that one to be over.

As I told the New York Post this past week, American may not be ready for Adam Lambert.   If they are, he wins it.  But Kris really had some great moments during the season and his best may have been Tuesday night with "Ain't No Sunshine".

Lambert came into the show as a -350 favorite versus Allen as the +200 underdog at Sportsbook.com
