Who Is Going To The American Idol Finale?

Kris Allen

Just when we thought it was going to be Adam Lambert vs. Danny Gokey heading to the American Idol finale, Kris Allen comes out with that kick ass acoustic version of Kanye West's "Heartless".

"This is going to definitely be one of the toughest calls," says Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.  "What started off as a rather bland season of American Idol is turning out to have one of the best endings, as long as Adam Lambert is in the finale of course.  All three of the men performed brilliantly the songs they chose themselves.

Not necessarily the case with the first half of Tuesday night's American Idol where judges chose songs for each of the three remaining contestants.

"I gotta tell you, Kris' version of ‘Apologize' chosen by Kara and Randy was not on the mark at all.  It bordered on being painful."

Danny sang well but judge Simon Cowell referred to his dancing as "desperate".

"Adam was brilliant as always performing U2's ‘One' but at times towards the end he was really screaming the lyrics in a way that may have turned off some viewers I suspect."

A look at DialIdol.com voting had all three men in a virtual dead heat.

Dialidol

It's not strictly true that Dialidol had the three contestants in a virtual dead heat. None of them were far enough ahead to be declared safe but Adam was two points ahead of Danny and Kris, and on their geopredictions Adam was predicted to win half the states so it was fairly obvious that the final was going to be Adam + 1. This difference also makes me question the "1 million" difference between the top 2.
