Entertainment

  • December 2008 was not good for a few former Sopranos stars. A star of the Sopranos committed suicide by shooting himself in the head just days before Christmas.
  • The bookies should make out rather well this coming Christmas Day as a record number of bets were taken on whether there would be a white Christmas.
  • Heath Ledger
The Golden Globes are usually a precursor to who will be nominated for the much more extravagant Oscars that follow a few months later and with Heath Ledger receiving a Globes nomination for his brilliant portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight, it is only a matter of time before the late actor is given an Academy Awards nod as well.
  • Iron Maiden
The offshore sportsbook, casino and online poker sector will have something to celebrate come March 3 as Iron Maiden arrives in Costa Rica for what is being billed as a "monster concert". More than half the online gambling sector operates from the Central American nation of Costa Rica.
  • Miss Russia Miss World 2008
Miss Russia is the surprising favorite to be crowned Miss World 2008, which is ironic since the Miss World pageant had to move to South America following hostilities between the previous host country of Ukraine and Russia.
  • Although not in the top five on the Miss World leaderboard, one has to wonder how Miss Germany became the biggest longshot at +15000.
