2009 Westminster Dog Show Odds

Did you know that the Westminster Dog Show attracts a rather large number of gamblers?  It may seem odd but the show is quite popular and heavily broadcast on ESPN.  As such, Sportsbook.com will be offering 2009 Westminster Dog Show betting odds beginning with which breed will ultimately win.

This is Sparky Collins, your Gambling911.com Cuban transgender reporter, all excited about this parade of beauties.  As many of you know, I travel the world surrounded by top fashion photographers as one of the most sought after photographers on the planet.  Some of these dogs are more beautiful than the models I shoot.  But just like with the girls, I have to pamper, pet them, bring them water and they leave their hairs everywhere.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is a two-day benched conformation show that takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City every year. Dog owners from around the world come to show their dogs. Dogs are judged closely by eminent American Kennel Club (AKC) judges. It is considered by many to be America's most prestigious dog show.

My personal favorite dog and the one I hope will win:  the Pekinese.

The dogs are also called Dogs of Foo or FU, word for happy in Chinese, by the Chinese..... especially when served with white rice and bok choy.

Just kidding dog lovers!

I love to play with this type of dog.  And they are a breed of ancient toy dog in fact.

The topskull is massive, broad and flat and, when combined with the wide set eyes, cheekbones and broad lower jaw, forms the correctly shaped face, kinda like those emaciated fashion models I photograph only the Pekinese does not require a muzzle and eats more.

While additional odds were anticipated for publication on Monday (the starting day of this event), these were the 2009 group Westminster Dog Show betting odds heading into the week and I embolden you to place your bets as soon as possible:

Herding Breeds Group +2500 pays $2500 for every $100 bet, $250 for every $10 bet
Hound Breeds Group +1500 pays $1500 for every $100 bet, $150 for every $10 bet

Non-Sporting Breeds Group +800 pays $800 for every $100 bet, $80 for every $10 bet

Sporting Breeds Group +250 pays $250 for every $100 bet, $25 for every $10 bet

Terriers Breed Group is the favorite at -200 and requires a $20 bet to win $10

"It is amazing the type of interest betting on this event generates," Gambling911.com Senior Editor, Payton O'Brien said.  "The first sportsbook to offer betting on the event left the U.S. market two years ago so Gambling911.com had ceased covering news related to the betting aspect of the Westminster Dog Show."

So unleash the inner gambler in you and start placing those bets at Sportsbook.com.  Get free cash when you join - 10 percent of your first deposit.  You open with $100, you get $10 FREE.

I leave you now with some good Westminster Dog Show trivia for you to enjoy with yourselves.

Did you know that in 1984, the Westminster Kennel Club ruled that dogs competing in its shows may not have names longer than seven words?  I don't know any dog here in Miami Beach that has seven words as part of its name, but the rule it has been challenged on a number of occasions.  Dogs with names longer than seven words have competed regardless.
