Director Nick Cassavetes Sues Friend Over Gambling Debt, $72k Bounced Check

Famed film Director Nick Cassavetes is suing his buddy over a $72,000 check that bounced and, according to TMZ.com, it’s for a gambling debt.

The friend, Kevin Washington, reportedly gave Cassavetes a handwritten check for $72,600 and allegedly stopped payment.

Cassavetes is a known gambler who has bet large sums of money at private home games.

Oddly enough, the film director was sued himself in 2011 for nearly an identical amount.  The trustee of a convicted hedge fund manager claimed Cassavetes owed hi a $73,000 poker debt.

Robert De Niro's Failed Audition as Sonny Corleone in 'The Godfather' Surfaces (Video)

Robert De Niro didn’t get the part of Sonny Corleone in the classic 1972 film “The Godfather”.

A failed audition tape surfaced this week, which showed De Niro, in his late 20’s,  is seen spinning around in front of the cameras wearing a black trilby hat and a buttoned-up grey shirt.  While the performance may have been good, it wasn't enough to make the cut.

De Niro would go on to win the part in "The Godfather"'s second installment, a role that would ultimately lead to an Academy Award.

Casino Wants Part of Lindsay Lohan Halloween Party Money Back Due to Tardiness

Officials at Connecticut’s Foxwoods Casino are demanding a partial refund from troubled actress Lindsay Lohan after she failed to show up on time for a Halloween party.

The casino paid Lohan $50,000 to host the party last Thursday, according to reports.

The actress eventually appeared alongside champion boxer and big time sports bettor Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to judge a costume contest.

Bookie Offers Odds on Whether Kanye West Acts as Best Man at His Own Wedding

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has begun to offer betting odds on whether recording artist Kanye West will be his own best man when he marries reality star Kim Kardashian. 

Odds on West being his own best man were set at 5/1 while recording mogul Jay-Z had odds of 1-3.

Kanye proposed to Kardashian earlier this week while the couple was in San Francisco.

Return of Miss America Pageant to Atlantic City Doesn’t Boost Revenue: Costs $400k

Atlantic City, NJ – (Associated Press) - The return of the Miss America pageant to Atlantic City brought attention to the seaside gambling mecca and a boon to police and public works employees.

The Press of Atlantic City reports the pageant cost the city about $400,000 in overtime. The city’s business administrator tells the newspaper that some of the costs will be reimbursed, possibly by the state. But it isn’t known how much, or when.

‘Runner, Runner’ Reviews Are All In: ‘Uncompelling, Sketchy, Charmless, Limp’

The reviews are in for the online gambling thriller “Runner, Runner” and they aren’t very good.  In fact, to date, just 20 percent of critics at movie review aggregator site RottenTomatoes.com have given the film a thumb’s up.  Audience reviews were equally as harsh, though somewhat limited.

Colorful poker pro Dan Bilzerian is suing producers of the upcoming film “Lone Survivor”, claiming he loaned the project $1 million in exchange for at least eight minutes of screen time and 80 words of dialogue.  Instead, he got less than one minute and one line.
