What the Line on Texas vs. Houston Should Be

The Adjusted Efficiency for both teams arrives at a number of 13.35 with the Cougars having the advantage.  We then multiply that number by the addition of both teams Adjusted Tempo Possessions Per 40 Minutes, which totals 129.9.  We arrive at a number of 1734, which is then divided by 200.   This gives us a line of Houston -8.5.  However, home court advantage is typically tacked on at 3.50, which results in a line of Houston -12.  The actual early line was coming in at Houston -11.5, leaving us with very little in the way of any value.

The home court advantage can be adjusted based on a team's edge at home and the opponent's weakness on the road.  Tinkering with this number will usually result in a change no greater than a point.

Also it is important to understand that the Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings do not take into account any injuries or variables that might otherwise impact a game, at least not immediately.

Houston may be ranked No. 5 in the nation but they sit atop the Ken Pomeroy Ratings and ESPN's own power rankings.

They will come into their game against Texas having just knocked off Cincinnati 67-62.

J’Wan Roberts scored a game-high 20 points.  Jamal Shead added 16 on 6-of-25 shooting for the Cougars (21-3, 8-3 Big 12), who won their 10th straight game against their longtime foe.

Saturday's game will surprisingly mark only the second time these teams are meeting in the modern era with Houston having beaten Texas 76-72 on the road in overtime on January 29.

The Longhorns enjoyed a blowout win over West Virginia ahead of this game.

Dylan Disu scored 19 of his 27 points in the first half and Max Abmas score 19 points and moved past Oscar Robertson on the all-time scoring list in the 94-58 win on Saturday.

Abmas made 5 of 12 from beyond the arc, distributed nine assists without a turnover and grabbed six rebounds.
