The Olympics are over. That doesn’t mean that online bookies and pay per head agents can’t make profit from athletic events. See below for info on IAAF.

What is IAAF?

The IAAF is the International Association of Athletics Federations. What the IAAF does is run athletic competitions throughout the world. Athletic competitions are mainly marathons, single event running competitions like the 100-meter dash, etc.

In other words, IAAF is the game in town when it’s not an Olympic year.

Can my players bet on athletic events?

Maybe. It depends on the interest shown on the event. For example, if it’s one of the major marathons, almost assuredly every sports book, and therefore every pay per head agent book, is going to offer odds. The major marathons are part of the Abbot World Marathon Majors.

Those 6 races are:

  • Tokyo Marathon
  • Virgin Money London Marathon
  • B.A.A. Boston Marathon
  • BMW Berlin Marathon
  • Bank of America Chicago Marathon
  • TCS New York City Marathon.

Your players should be able to bet on all of the major marathons. There are other events, IAAF Diamond League Events, that offer wagering to athletic-minded bettors.

What do online bookies need to know about players betting on athletics?

As the Olympics showed, betting on athletics, by its very nature, can be profitable. The reason why is because when a short-priced favorites like Usain Bolt shows up to run in a 100-meter event, the odds on Bolt winning are going to be around -200 or greater.

If pay per head agents want to control the money on Bolt, they simply set a minimum betting limit of say,

$100 with a max betting limit of say, $300. Underdog athletic bettors are going to go against Bolt in the 100 meter, like what happened when Justin Gatlin took a ton of money during the Olympics.

In order to prevent having to pay out too much money on a dog like Gatlin to win, online bookies should set max betting limits on runners like Gatlin. This goes for any and all athletic events, including all of the World Marathon events.

Pay per head agents should pay attention to athletic events. They could be a profitable source of income for bookies. For more useful tips for online bookies see PayPerHead.com’s full library here.

The reason being is because fair odds are usually as fair as it gets in athletic events like the Boston Marathon or a 100-meter dash in the IAAF Diamond League. Fair events often times provide a distribution of wagering money. That’s always good for the bookmakers.

Pay Per Head Fees – How They Work

Many folks new to the world of Pay Per Heads often have questions about the fees.  The word itself usually results in negative connotations such as those useless fees charged by your bank or when on vacation at a fancy resort.
