Sportech to Take Over DraftDay.com in $7 Million Deal

(G911 News Wire) - DraftDay.com, the third largest Daily Fantasy Sports site, but by a rather large margin, has been sold to Random Outcome USA, a newly formed subsidiary of Sportech.  MGT will sell all of its Daily Fantasy Sports ventures as part of the deal, reported to be worth $7 million, $4 million of which will be in cash.  MGT will retain an equity interest in the new company as well.  This includes common stock and warrants.

Bitcoin Sportsbook BetVIP.com Shuts Down

A Bitcoin-only online sportsbook, BetVIP.com, has closed its doors this week citing financial issues. While the company claims players will receive all funds owed to them, that remains to be seen.

SportingNews.com: NFL Continuing Its Self-Serving Gambling Policies With Romo Action

Following the National Football League’s demand to shut down a Fantasy Sports-themed Vegas event originally to be held next month, a number of players, including Cowboys stars Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, have called out the NFL. 

Romo was actually the one organizing the event, which the league says was in violation of policy prohibiting its players from making public appearances on casino properties.

William Hill Refuses to Honor Federer Prop Bet, Paddy Power Caves In

The UK’s biggest bookmaker, William Hill, is refusing to pay out £1,000 on a 50p bet placed on the Rome Masters.

Julius Ndlovu, a student nurse, placed a bet on the Swiss tennis star to win a set 6-3 during his Rome Masters match against Tomas Berdych after spotting odds of 2,000-1 on William Hill's website, the Independent reported Monday.

That bet came through a winner but Hill called those “ridiculously high odds” a “palpable error”.

Online Gambling Company GVC Holdings Makes Bid for Bwin.Party

Online gambling company GVC Holdings Plc said it had submitted a bid for rival Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Plc , which announced in March it was looking for potential suitors.

GVC Holdings Chief Executive Kenneth Alexander had told Reuters in March that "something like" Bwin.party would be of interest to the company.

Bwin.party also said they are still in negotiations with a number of third parties as well.

Amaya Quarterly Results Boosted by PokerStars Acquisition

(Reuters) - Canadian gaming company Amaya Inc, the owner of online gambling sites PokerStars and Full Tilt, reported a massive jump in revenue and an adjusted profit on Thursday, on the back of its pivot to focus on the burgeoning online gambling market.

Montreal-based Amaya, which transformed itself in 2014 after it acquired PokerStars and Full Tilt through a $4.9 billion buyout of Rational Group, has been selling or spinning off its non-core assets over the last few months.
