Richmond Odds to Win the 2011 NCAA Basketball Championship

Richmond odds to win the 2011 NCAA Basketball Championship were at 25/1 at Bookmaker.com.   They were 200/1 heading into the Tournament and can be classified as one of five true Cinderella teams that have entered the Sweet 16 round (the others being VCU, Florida State, Butler and Marquette).  Richmond, however, is the lowest seed of all of them (12th).  Outside of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond offers the best payout odds ($2500 for every $100 bet or $250 for every $10 betMarquette and Butler do offer the same odds at Bookmaker.com.

Richmond’s 65-48 win over number 13-seeded Morehead State might seem less impressive than some of the upsets we have seen take place in recent days.  Still, this marks Richmond’s second time advancing to the Sweet 16 as a 12-seed or lower. The Spiders also won their eighth game as a 12-seed or lower.

Richmond also took care of Morehead State star Kenneth Faried, who finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds, his 86th career double-double, one shy of Tim Duncan's all-time record.

"They didn't do anything to me that I haven't seen," Faried said. "I was kind of stagnate with my offense, and that's a credit to Richmond.
