Yankees at 5-1 Odds to Win 2012 World Series With Derek Lowe Signing

The New York Yankees ranked as co-favorites along with the Texas Rangers to win the 2012 World Series following the signing of right-hander Derek Lowe.  Currently odds still had the Yankees paying a respectable $50 for every $10 bet at Sportsbook.

The 39-year-old Lowe immediately gives the Yankees a long reliever to back up starter David Phelps, who will be capped at around 80 pitches, Marc Carig of the Newark Star Ledger noted.

Lowe (8-10, 5.52 ERA) was released by the Indians last week after posting a 8.77 ERA over his last 10 starts.  He last appeared as a reliever while playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2007.

Baseball News

Chris Paddack Player Prop Bets

Paddack recorded 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox. Prior to that start, Paddack was obliterated by the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Eflin Player Prop Bets

Zach Eflin has great value in fantasy leagues for the April 26 game against the lowly Chicago White Sox.  Betting on Eflin and the Tampa Bay Rays might make sense if not for the -210 price tag.

Trevor Williams Player Prop Bets

The Nats Trevor Williams held the Astros to one run with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.  And the betting public was eating him up at a near 80% clip.
