The 27-year-old owns a 9-2 record and 5.45 ERA in 13 outings away from home, and his only loss since June 7 came on the road after getting tagged for five earned runs in 5 1/3 frames at Oakland. Xander Bogaerts is 4-for-8 with a solo home run versus German, who is 2-0 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts against Boston this season.

Released by Milwaukee late last month, Chacin is not expected to work more than two or three innings in his Red Sox debut in what figures to be a bullpen game after last pitching July 24. The Venezuela native, who has fallen on hard times this season after winning a career-high 15 games in 2018, is winless over his last 12 starts since beating Colorado on April 30. DJ LeMahieu is 4-for-10 against Chacin, who went 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA in his only two career starts versus the Yankees in 2016.
