While voters did not approve sports betting in Caldwell Parish, there are other options besides state-regulated.  These include BetUS, which has been serving the state of Louisiana since 1994 and offers a generous welcome bonus to those 18 and up (max bonus $2500).

Sports wagering via one's mobile phone was approved throughout much of Louisiana with a few parishes opting out, including Caldwell.  Nearly a half dozen apps were set to launch January 28, 2022.

With its population of just over 10,000, Caldwell is the fifth-least populous parish in Louisiana.  It does seem the smaller the parish, the less inclined they were to legalize sports gambling.

Most residents live in the country even beyond the three rural communities in the parish.

The parish was home to LA Tech Football, 1st Team All America (1941) Garland Gregory.  He would go on to play in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, 2nd Team All AFC (1947).

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament.
