The Swedes were looking to dominate Cross Country Skiing at the Beijing Olympics.

On Tuesday night, Jonna Sundling raced to her first Olympic gold medal with a final time of 3:09.68 and led the field by a healthy margin. Maja Dahlqvist followed close behind with 3:12.46.

Sweden has delivered athletes that have consistently been among the top-10-seeded athletes for each cross-country event so far at the 2022 Games.

Top contender Frida Karlsson also had high hopes of racking up medals as this was going to press.

Norway was actually coming in with rather short odds to win this event at +160.

Russia comes in at +340 odds.
