Representing the host nation of Japan, Kenichiro won a gold medal at Paris World Wrestling Championships in 59 kg in 2017.

Emelin is a Russian Greco-Roman wrestler of Mordvin descent. He is a World and European Champion in 60 kg. At the 2018 European Wrestling Championships, Emelin defeated his opponents, including Murad Mammadov from Azerbaijanh. At the 2018 World Wrestling Championships he confidently beat all of his opponents, winning overall 44–1.
