Machado is an American professional baseball third baseman and shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball.

The Yankees add Machado’s salary could still stay under the $197 million luxury-tax threshold. Machado is currently owed around $7 million of his $16 million contract this season. That number would go down to about $5.5 million if Baltimore waits until the deadline, according to the New York Post.
