Missouri vs. Purdue Free Pick Week 2

Tony George has a nice free pick on the Mizzou-Purdue game this week. His preview appears below.

The Big 10 versus the SEC this weekend, and it marks the first road trip for the Missouri Tigers.  The QB battle in this one goes to Mizzou all the way, as Drew Lock is one of the better QB’s in the SEC and has an NFL arm and surrounded by weapons of mass destruction.

Purdue is toiling over who to start and play at QB and off a loss at home to Eastern Michigan, and before that got beat by a less than average Northwestern team who got waxed at home the next game by Duke.  The Purdue offense is an enigma wrapped in a riddle to say the least and they are up against it this week as high flying Mizzou has a spread attack that is faced paced and effective.

Mizzou came on strong last year at seasons end and have covered 8 out of 10 games dating back to last year, have scored 40 points or more in 8 out of their last 10 games and just beat up Wyoming 40-13 last week and I was on them as a big favorite.  The defense of the Tigers is underrated and Mizzou has not forgot the absolute butt whipping Purdue laid on them last year in Columbia 35-3 by the Boilermakers, and have had this one circled for a year and are on the  prowl for payback.

This line opened at 7 and down a point as for some reason I cannot explain has been steamed down a point to 6.  Also I learned on Thursday 69% of the money in this game in Las Vegas was on Purdue.  I do not see how Purdue is getting so much sharp action, they are totally dysfunctional on offense and being able to trade punches here in my opinion is going to be a huge challenge.  I see the Tigers pulling away late and covering this despite everyone I hear saying Purdue is a live dog in this one at home, I just have seen too much of Mizzou to think Purdue can keep pace.

Missouri 35  Purdue 17 - Lay the number with the Tigers
