Those looking to bet on the upcoming New York hush money trial involving former US president and presumptive GOP nominee for 2024, Donald Trump, and former adult film star Stormy Daniels will be deprived of being able to watch the action as it unfolds.  New York state does not allow cameras in the courtroom.  It is widely anticipated that our friends at BetOnline will be offering limited betting on the so-called hush money trial, in particular, the outcome.

A Boring First Two Weeks (Not)

While the trial began April 15, the likely blockbuster testimony, shock witnesses and real meet of the trial wasn't anticipated until next month. That's because the April 15 date simply began the often tedious process of seeking out potential jurors.  But even this supposedly boring aspect of the trial yielded some fireworks with news that one of the selected jurors had to be released after uncovering a past run-in with law enforcement.  Another juror asked to be excused our of fear of being doxxed.  One prospective juror turned out to be a FanDuel employee, another worked on Hillary Clinton's 2016 Presidential campaign-against Trump.

To pretty much everybody's surprise, the jury selection process concluded on Friday with 12 individuals in place along with 6 alternates.

When Will the Fireworks Really Begin?

As noted above, we were looking at the beginning of May for the trial to actually get underway.  Instead, we are now looking at opening arguments to begin as early as Monday April 22.

Potential Betting Opportunities

BetOnline likely won't release full trial odds until the true start of the trial, or days leading up to the trial.  Betting is likely to be in high demand and we do have some potential opportunities available.

  • Over/under number of witnesses called by the prosecution.
  • Over/under number of witnesses called by the defense.
  • Will Donald Trump testify?
  • Melania Trump to appear in court or by her husband's side at any time during the trial including day of the verdict.
  • Specific mentions by Trump on his social media platform Truth Social during trial.
  • Will there be a hung jury?
  • Will Trump be found guilty or not guilty?
  • Trump placed in jail for violating gag order at any time during the trial?
  • Poll margins at official starting date of testimony to one week date after verdict.

Truly there are plenty of betting opportunities to be had here even though the trial will not be televised.

What Exactly is at Stake Here?

The former president faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie A. Gregory Clifford. Each count carries a maximum sentence of four years.

Will DraftKings or FanDuel Be Offering Bets on the Stormy Daniels, Donald Trump Hush Money Trial?

Absolutely not!

BetOnline is an internationally licensed gambling website based in North America (not the US proper) whereas DraftKings and FanDuel are licensed in designated US states, including New York State.  State regulators prohibited operators from offering wagering on political and most entertainment and/or trial outcomes as well as any prop bets tied to said trials.  A fun fact is that Gambling911.com was present the day BetOnline first opened its international office way back in 1999 and they've since become easily one of the top 5 largest gambling websites in the world today, at least when it comes to the North American and Latin American-focused markets.

BetOnline strictly forbids those in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Nevada from placing bets via their website. Sorry in advance to those who reside in these states.  Can you set up a bitcoin account and use your grandmother's Florida address?  We suppose, but Gambling911.com strongly discourages doing so.

Will My Local Bookie Offer Betting on This Trial

Actually BetOnline is one of the few gambling companies that will take bets on this trial to the best of our knowledge.

More likely than not some of the European-based gambling websites will be, but Americans won't be able to bet with any of them.  Yes, Europeans are into US politics too.
