Americas Cardroom Online Poker Room Now Offering $10k Guarantees Nightly

Online poker players no longer have to wait until the weekend for a 5-figure guarantee. Americas Cardroom today announced that its weekly nightly guarantee at 9pm ET is jumping to $10k. Up until now, Monday night's big tourney featured an $8k guarantee, and the featured nightly tourney from Tuesday through Friday stood at $7k.

Mickey Petersen Wins 2012 English Poker Open

Denmark player Mickey Petersen has won the 2012 English Poker Open and the £78,660 prize that went with it.

Military Aircraft Delivers ‘Thirty Tons’ of Computer Equipment From Full Tilt Poker

A military aircraft landed on the Isle of Man late last week packed with “thirty tons” of computer equipment from Full Tilt Poker en route to the offices of PokerStars, which operates from that island nation. 

PokerStars acquired Full Tilt Poker this summer and is set to pay back non-US players owed monies from the company for over a year.

New Online Poker Room Poker Rebel to Welcome US Citizens Beginning November 1

A new online poker room is set to launch November 1 that will target primarily North American and South American customers, including those in the US.

The site’s name is PokerRebel.com and has roots in Brazil, one of the world’s fastest growing economies.  The room will be offered in both English and Portuguese.  Its slogan is “Join The REBELution”. 

The site has been in development since March of this year.

Numis Upgrades William Hill

Numis Securities Limited has upgraded William Hill from reduce to hold Friday with the target up from 250p to 310p.

William Hill, Great Britain’s largest bookmaking operation, announced its intention earlier in the week to purchase rival Sportingbet as part of a joint venture with another firm.  The proposed acquisition would be arranged through an entity of William Hill and not William Hill Online, which is a joint venture with Playtech Ltd.

More recently, Hill entered into acquisitions with Nevada-based sports betting businesses such as American Wagering Inc.

Three More Companies Approved for Online Poker in Nevada

LAS VEGAS – (Associated Press) - Nevada gambling regulators have approved licenses for three companies to run Internet poker sites in the state.

The company owns the Stratosphere hotel-casino and tower on the Las Vegas Strip.

Brennan Jr: ‘Why Would Senator Menendez Vote for Federal Online Poker Legislation’

Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (imega.org) head Joe Brennan, Jr. made it clear, there is more preventing passage of any online poker bill at the federal level than a simple lack of Republican votes.

Adelson Unveils Plan for New Eiffel Tower Replica Macau Casino

(AFP) - Las Vegas casino boss Sheldon Adelson on Thursday unveiled plans to build a scaled down replica of the Eiffel Tower as part of a new $3 billion gambling resort in Macau.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. chief spoke publicly for the first time about the new development as he opened a Sheraton hotel in the second phase of his latest $4.4 billion resort, the Sands Cotai Central, itself only five months old.

Fifth Suspect in Jonathan Duhamel Home Invasion Arrested: Girlfriend to Plea Guilty

Just one day before 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel’s former girlfriend is expected to plead guilty in the brazen December armed robbery of his home, a fifth suspect has been apprehended and faces eight criminal charges.

The yet-to-be-identified suspect is believed to have been the getaway driver that day.  Charges include armed robbery; illegal confinement; issuing threats; mischief; breaking and entering; and conspiracy.

Zynga Shares Climb Nearly 4 Percent: Another Executive Leaving

Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) shares increased 3.35 percent to $3.18 after acquiring San Mateo, California-based game maker A Bit Lucky Inc.

The news is bittersweet as yet another executive has confirmed they are leaving the company.

Nils Puhlmann, Zynga’s chief security officer, will be stepping down after a three year stint with the company.

Zynga’s share price has lost approximately 70 percent of its value in recent months.

Greece Hikes Gambling Taxes

ATHENS (Reuters) - Greece will hike taxes on OPAP <OPAr.AT>, the state-controlled betting agency slated for privatization, following rivals' complaints to the European Commission that tax provisions of Greek gaming legislation favored the company.

The move triggered a sharp drop in shares of OPAP - one of Europe's biggest listed gambling companies - and sent the stock plunging more than 18 percent as investors took fright at the size of the levies.

Breaking News: Full Tilt Poker Exec Nelson Burtnick Pleads Guilty

NEW YORK – (Associated Press) - A Canadian man who once led the payment processing at two online poker companies pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy and gambling charges, agreeing to cooperate in the government's crackdown on the businesses.

Nelson Burtnick, of Vancouver, entered the plea before a magistrate judge in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where several others have already pleaded guilty to similar charges. He is among nearly a dozen people charged in a case that shut down U.S. operations of the three largest poker companies.
