Online Gambling: Government Wants to Know Where Bet is Placed

Much like the Jay Cohen trial in 2000, three US 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals judges were most interested on Tuesday in where a bet is placed when it comes to online gambling.

The judges heard oral arguments from lawyers representing the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association and the US Department of Justice.  iMEGA is challenging the Constitutionality of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which essentially outlaws most forms of online gambling in the U.S.

Daniel Negreanu Catches Nasty Virus at WSOP

Now that Daniel Negreanu has bowed out of the 2009 World Series of Poker early, he can go back to blogging....assuming he can muster up enough strength to do so.

Don't cry any tears for Negreanu.  Not only did he cash out at eight events of the 2009 World Series of Poker, he's also putting more than $300,000 in the bank.  That's more than US President Barack Obama's yearly salary.  Way to go Daniel.

Unfortunately he's suffering from flu-like symptoms that may have played a part in his horrid performance.  Hopefully it's not the Swine Flu.

Smallest Starting Day Since 2003 for a WSOP Event

Has the recession hit the 2009 World Series of Poker?  It sure seemed that was the case after Saturday's starting field attracted the smallest number of participants since 2003.

873 players took to the table including the likes of Gambling911.com friend Doyle Brunson, Amarillo Slim, Greg Raymer, Chris Moneymaker and Chris Ferguson.  That number still surpasses the total who played in 2003, which was 839.  This was also the year that Chris Moneymaker won and helped to kick start today's poker craze.  The following year attracted 2576 players.
