Heartland Poker Tour to Celebrate 200th Episode With $250K Prize Pool in Albuquerque

The Heartland Poker Tour, the nationally-syndicated poker show produced out of Fargo, North Dakota, is set to film its 200th episode on Monday, July 30 at Route 66 Casino in Albuquerque, NM.  A $250,000 prize pool guarantee in the Main Event will ensure the landmark episode is action-packed.   Poker pro Greg “Fossilman” Raymer will lend some star power to the event.

Following last year’s shock exits of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker from the US market, the vast majority of poker pros have been left with few options in which to play online.  While sites like Americas Cardroom welcome high stakes players by offering such enticements as a $60k Progressive Rake Race (a la “The Beast”), sites still catering to US players operate primarily using a recreational model.

Defendant in ‘Blue Monday’ Online Gambling Indictment Sentencing Sealed

No word yet on the fate of Darren Wright, the 43-year-old head of defunct online gambling company BetED.com and ThrillX.

Wright was caught up in a sting operation organized by the US Attorneys Office in Baltimore resulting in charges of money laundering and aiding and abetting of an online gambling business back in May of last year.  The investigation took place over a nearly two-year period.

Alleged Casino Cheaters Headed to Court in Ohio

CLEVELAND - (Associated Press) — Prosecutors say they have compelling video evidence against the first suspected casino cheaters in Ohio.

Seven men have been indicted in Cleveland on illegal gambling charges and six are due in court Wednesday morning. The seventh was arraigned last week and pleaded not guilty.

Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County Prosecutor Bill Mason says he will show surveillance video from the new Horseshoe casino if any case goes to trial. In his words, "It's not going to be difficult to figure out what they are doing."

Wynn Resorts 2Q Net Income Rises, but Revenue Down

The excitement overnight could not have been overstated as two females were vying for a spot among the World Series of Poker Final Table.  No woman has made the Final Table in 17 years since Barbara Enright in 1995.

Gaelle Baumann Almost First Woman to Make Final Table of World Series of Poker Main Event

Gaelle Baumann of France just missed becoming the first woman to ever make the Final Table of a World Series of Poker Main Event.  She was eliminated in 10th place at around 3:30 am EST.

Elisabeth Hille of Norway made an amazing run, busting at number 10 and walking off with $590,442 but failing to make the Final Table of the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event.

This would have been the furthest a woman had ever come in the Main Event if not for the fact that Frenchwoman Gaelle Baumann was still among the final 10.  Hille busted just before Midnight.

Latest WSOP 2012 Main Event Eliminations as we are Down to 15 Poker Players

They continue to drop like flies as we fast approach the World Series of Poker Final Nine (otherwise known as the November Nine). 

At the time this was going to press, one of two females still standing, Gaelle Baumann, sat at the bottom of the pack but was trending upwards. 

Elisabeth Hille, the other woman player, was in 11th place and trending downward. 

Percy Mahatan is eliminated in 16th place and takes home $369,026.

Robert Buckenmayer is eliminated in 17th place and takes home $369,026.

World Series of Poker Main Event Day 7 Player Profiles

There was plenty of excitement coming into Day 7 of the World Series of Poker Main Event as the final nine players will be determined from the 27 that remain now.  Two of those players are women:  Norway’s Elizabeth Hille and France's Gaelle Baumann.

Sentencing in Alabama Gambling Vote Selling, Bingo Bribery Convictions Today

(Associated Press) - A former federal judge said it’s highly unlikely that a casino developer who admitted offering millions in bribes will come out a winner in his attempt to avoid a prison sentence.

Three of the four people who pleaded guilty in Alabama’s gambling corruption case — Country Crossing casino developer Ronnie Gilley, casino lobbyist Jarrod Massey and former state Rep. Terry Spicer — are scheduled for sentencing today in Montgomery by U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson.

Elisabeth Hille Makes Top 5 With 27 Left at World Series of Poker Main Event

Norwegian amateur Elisabeth Hille is conjuring up memories of fellow Norwegian Annette Obrestad, who won the first ever World Series of Poker Europe Main Event before she even turned 18 years old.

Should Hille make the Final Table of this year’s WSOP, she would become the first female to ever do so.  Hille is one of two women still standing, the other being Gaelle Baumann of France in 20th place.

World Series of Poker 2012 Last Woman Standing: Gaelle Baumann Still in Top 20

It’s always exciting as the World Series of Poker Main Event dwindles down to determine the “Last Woman Standing”.

Women have not had much luck in the WSOP’s illustrious history but this year we have Frenchwoman Gaelle Baumann, who, with only 58 players remaining, was among the top 20.  Day 6 was expected to conclude with 27 players remaining going into Day 7 Monday. 

Earlier in the day, Vanessa Selbst had been eliminated in 73rd place.

World Series of Poker bracelet winners, Jason Somerville and Vanessa Selbst had been moved to the feature tablewith just under 80 players remaining mid afternoon Sunday local time. Selbst busted just as this was going to press.
