Alain Bernard vs. Jason Lezak: Summer Olympics Betting Heats Up
Sports bettors are in for a special treat on Tuesday as the 100M freestyle men's swimming pits France's Alain Bernard against the USA's Jason Lezak.
Bernard was the favorite to win at BetCRIS.com with odds set at near even or +115 (paying US$115 for every $100 bet). A win by Lezak would pay out US$125 for every US$100 bet.

The U.S. men's 4x100m free relay team won gold Monday in the most exciting, most record-breaking, most amazing, thrilling, unbelievable relay anyone could ever imagine, evidence of exactly what Jason Lezak, who swam the greatest anchor leg in relay history, had to say when it was all over:
"People always step up and do things out of the ordinary at the Olympics."
This was even so much more. Extraordinary in every regard.
Alain Bernard had previously issued the bold prediction that "France will smash the US".
"I've always said that 10 to 15 swimmers could be on the podium. But physically, I'm on top," Bernard stated. "I'm fitter than I was at the French championships, fitter than I was at the European championships.
"The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came here for," he added.
In the end, the Americans ended up smashing a world record.
The U.S. men -- Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak -- finished in 3:08.24. France took second, Australia third.
