Bet on Obama and his Democratic Convention Speech
What color tie will US Presidential candidate be wearing when he delivers his speech before the Democratic Convention Thursday night? How many sips of water will he take? What will Obama say?
Ireland's leading online bookmaker - Paddy Power - is offering plenty of betting odds on Barack Obama and just about every aspect of his speech...right down to his ties, and maybe even his socks.
What will he say first? Bet US$100 and win US$1000 if Obama says "It's time for change". Five other options have 12-1 odds such as "I'd Like to Thank My Wife" and "As I Stand Here Today".
"Hard to Believe" pays US$2500 for every US$100 bet. "We Can't Lose Hope" pays 25 to 1 odds as well.
If he says "Always Bet on Black!" or "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates", you could win US$25000 to US$50000 for every US$100 bet. Don't count on it though.
How about the color of Obama's tie during his speech? Blue is the 11/10 favorite. Gray pays 11/4, black pays 4/1 odds, red pays 5/1, white pays 10/1, pink pays 12/1 odds and a bow tie would pay US$5000 for every US$100 bet.
Who will the camera pan to the most during the speech, other than Barack Obama himself?
Oprah came in with 5/4 odds while George Clooney came in with 4/1 odds. Paris Hilton, for whom Paddy Power actually has 1000 to 1 odds of becoming the next US President, was listed with 50/1 odds for the camera shots.
Paddy Power also offers odds on the number of sips of water Obama will take and how many times he says the word "Change". 16-20 times is the 2 to 1 favorite.
One giant drawback for US citizens wanting to bet with Paddy Power: They can't. Paddy does not take bets from Americans.
