Denmark was the first country representative to win this year's World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) event with more to come. Jesper Hougaard walks off with the modest prize of $144,218 but will definitely have made a name for himself.

"I cannot describe my feelings in words," Hougaard said. "I am simply overwhelmed. Yesterday, I was chip leader for quite some time, and then it slowly dawned on me that I could possibly win this thing."

For Hougaard, this was more than just the prize money, his 2008 WSOPE win was also about history. The 24-year-old professional Danish poker player is the first player to win a gold bracelet on both sides of the Atlantic. He is also the second player to win multiple gold bracelets in a single year of World Series of Poker events. John Phan won two gold bracelets at this year's WSOP in Las Vegas.

Hougaard beat out a field of 410 entrants.

Here were your final nine finishes and prize winnings:

1 Jesper Hougaard Denmark - $144,218
