“That wasn’t fun,” 18-time Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Michael Phelps tweeted in regard to his going up against one of the greatest female poker players at this year’s World Series of Poker.

For Phelps, this was his first ever WSOP event.  He took on Vanessa Selbst.

He tweeted after going busto:

Always!! Lol glgl "@VanessaSelbst: @MichaelPhelps @bluffmagazine haha come on we had a blast! Until you took the beat of course..."

On Wednesday, Phelps decided to enter World Series of Poker Event #2, the $5,000 no-limit hold’em tournament.  He initially was not planning on taking part in any of the WSOP events.

“It’s kind of weird,” Phelps told Card Player. "I wasn’t even going to play today. I just wanted to come over and see everything and somehow these guys talked me into playing. Antonio [Esfandiari] and JG (Jeff Gross) told me we should just throw in a buy-in and see what happens at your first World Series event.”

Phelps was out in 178th place.  Considering there were 481 entries, not too shabby a debut.
