Punta Cana Poker Classic

The Punta Cana Poker Classic 1st place prize will be $136,950 officially, Gambling911.com has verified as of Wednesday night.  A total of 415 players registered for the event, which was double the size of last year.   2nd place will receive $82,729.  $600,000 was guaranteed and organizers believe that next year’s event could topple the one million dollar mark.

BetCRIS.com, America’s Card Room, True Poker, BetDSI.com Poker, 5Dimes and Bodog Poker were among the biggest representatives at this year’s event.

A group of close to two dozen high stake Venezuelans managed to make the cut last minute.  A few dozen walk-ins arrived too late to participate.

One of the biggest perks of playing in the Punta Cana Poker Classic was the re-entry allowance during the first three hours.

Bodog Poker pro Tatjana Pasalic’s boyfriend actually re-entered three times.  He had won the PokerStars Super Tuesday event online the night before and used that money to buy back in each time he busted.

“We had about 35 re-buys so this was huge for us,” tournament organizers told Gambling911.com.

165 players were left after Midnight including Ms. Pasalic, the famed Croatian talk show host and presenter who was voted Gambling911.com’s Sexiest Poker Player in 2010.
