Paradise Island, BAHAMAS – Jake Cody, poker’s youngest Triple Crown winner, kicks off 2013 as the newest member of Team PokerStars Pro, the world’s largest poker site announced today.

Jake, who is at Atlantis in the Bahamas today to play Day 1b of the $10,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, will join an elite team of professional players which includes Canadian poker legend Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier and Vanessa Selbst as well as fellow British Team Pros EPT3 London champion Vicky Coren and EPT6 Sanremo winner Liv Boeree.

When asked what the deal means to him, Jake said: “Team Pokerstars Pro is the holy grail of poker sponsorship.  It has been a long term goal for a while now and for it to finally happen feels like a dream come true.”

Jake started playing in a home game with friends and progressed by reading books and discussing strategy with other players on forums. His first live tournament cash came in 2009 when he finished sixth in a £200 No Limit Hold’em event in Manchester but he first hit the limelight the following year when he took down the EPT Deauville Main Event for €857,000 in January 2010. Seven months later, he won WPT London, and in 2011 he won the $25,000 World Series of Poker Heads-Up Championship – making him the youngest ever Triple Crown winner and securing his place in poker history. In his short career, Cody has already amassed over $3 million in live tournament winnings.

Jake has countless online titles including the $2k No Limit Hold’em SCOOP event in May 2011, which added $234,738 to his online bankroll. Speaking of his plans for 2013, Jake added: “My goals now are to improve my live game for some upcoming events, continue to focus on heads-up No Limit Hold’em, but also try to develop my pot-limit Omaha game,” he said.

Fellow UK Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree said: “Jake is such great ambassador for poker in the UK – he’s a great player but he’s also a humble guy. He’s incredibly competitive, and is always striving to improve his game. With so many titles under his belt at such a young age, he’s going to have a very long and successful career ahead of him.”

Following the PCA, Jake’s next live appearance will be at UKIPT3 Edinburgh next week where he’ll be competing in the £700 main event alongside 500+ other runners competing for a share of a £250,000 guaranteed prize pool.
