Hollywood’s Five Biggest High Stakes Poker Players

With Toby Maguire caught up in a complicated ponzi scheme involving underground high stakes poker games in Hollywood, ABC profiled the five biggest celebrity poker players.  Maguire, who is best known for his portrayal of Spider Man on film, ranks among them.  Some would say he is the biggest.

Maguire has been named in a lawsuit filed by duped investors claiming jailed hedge fund manager Brad Ruderman used their monies to amass huge debt in illegal underground high stakes poker games.

Poker pro Dan Bilzerian objects to the idea that Maguire is any type of “high roller”

“He's cheap as f**k and plays like a cheap b*tch... a guy who's worth all that money playing as if he's broke. Come on, dude."

Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reported to have had links to the underground high stakes games though they are not named in the suit.  Affleck is considered among Hollywood’s top 5 poker elite.

Welcome Back Kotter’s Gabe Kaplan is named in the suit and widely considered among the Hollywood poker elite.

“Bride of Chucky” star Jennifer Tilly is regularly featured on the pages of Gambling911.com.  She is by far one of the most well known of the celebrity poker players and is the girlfriend of  big name pro Phil “The Unabomber” Laak.  Ms. Tilly is being enticed by organizers of the Punta Cana Poker Classic to attend that event in November.

Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame is another of the Hollywood poker princesses.  At the 2007 NBC National Heads-Up Championship, she came in fourth and beat some of the best players in the world.

James Woods  also ranks among the biggest poker players in Hollywood.   The actor is associated with the online poker site Hollywood Poker.
