Five Remain at 2008 World Series of Poker Europe

Nine finalists now down to five remaining at the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). The two chip leaders were Russians Stanislav Alekhin, a virtual unknown before this tournament and Ivan Demidov who is also among the WSOP finalists to play next month in Las Vegas.

Bengt Sonnert, John Juanda and Daniel Negreanu were also hanging in there. Negreanu and Juanda are multiple WSOP bracelet winners.

Gone are Scott Fischman, another of the multiple bracelet winners, Finnish poker player Toni Hiltunen, Chris Elliott and Robin Keston.

Chip leaders were as follows:

Stanislav Alekhin 3,382,000

Ivan Demidov 1,970,000

Bengt Sonnert 918,000

John Juanda 600,000

Daniel Negreanu 398,000
