2013 World Series of Poker Main Event Kicks Off

The 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event kicked off on Saturday with The first of three starting flights in this year’s event, the opening day of action is already drawing some big names from both the poker world and the sports and entertainment industries, according to WSOP.com.  The event requires a $10,000 buy-in.  Last year's Main Event paid winner Greg Merson $8,531,853.

Speaking of Merson, at press time, he was among the top 30 chip leaders starting off on Saturday.

There were some early busts including big name players the likes of T.J. Cloutier, a 2006 Poker Hall of Fame entrant.

In January 2010, The Plano Pawn Shop auctioned off Cloutier's 2005 bracelet on eBay.com. It brought for just $4006.

2011 WSOP Main Event winner Pius Heinz was on the verge of busting.
