Bad news for anyone hoping for a hot story at this year’s World Series of Poker. Johnny Chan has been eliminated after spending the earlier part of the day back among the top 10 chip leaders.

Chan, the second biggest WSOP bracelet holder made a costly error by gambling a strong pocket pairs twice against pocket aces, the game's best starting hand.

"One of those things came out of the freezer," said Chan, who won the main event in 1987 and 1988 and has 10 gold bracelets at the series.

The legendary card player immortalized in the 1998 movie "Rounders" lost the last of his chips with pocket jacks.

Breeze Zuckerman, the last woman standing, also fell before the evening set in.

Just over 100 players remained in contention at the 2010 WSOP main event.
