This week, the Tokwiro-owned online poker sites UB and Absolute Poker join their industry peers in support of the people of the earthquake-ravaged Caribbean nation of Haiti. The pair of popular online poker rooms will host Play for Haiti, a dedicated tournament, giving players a chance to allocate a small portion of the money they gamble with to help save lives and rebuild in Haiti; the Tokwiro sites will match the Play for Haiti tournament prize pool dollar-for-dollar.

With traditional generosity, the online poker community has been quick to design disaster relief schemes for Haiti, and UB and Absolute Poker are no exception.

"Along with the rest of the world, we've watched the headlines and news unfold with growing horror as the magnitude of the devastation in Haiti has been revealed," said Paul Leggett, Tokwiro's Chief Operations Officer. "We believe we have a duty to do what we can to help raise funds and awareness for the plight of the people of Haiti, and our ‘Play for Haiti' tournament is one small way we can work with our players to contribute."

The Haiti Fundraiser at UB and Absolute Poker will be well supported by UB's many top Pro poker players on the night, scheduled for this Wednesday, January 20th at 20:30 ET. Players can participate by playing in the $5+0 buy-in Turbo Rebuy tournament capped at 750 players. One hundred percent of the prize pool will be matched by the UB and Absolute Poker parent company, and all money raised will be donated to the Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.

Philanthropic players who register for the Play for Haiti tournament won't walk away empty-handed though. UB and Absolute Poker have added over $10,000 in prizes to the pot, awarding various UBOC 2010 tournament entries to those who finish in the following places:

1st                    UBOC 8 $2500+100 entry
2nd                  UBOC Championship $1000+50 entry
3rd-9th              UBOC 8 25 seat Satellite $200+15 entry
10th-54th           UBOC Championship 100 seat Satellite $100+9 entry

UBOC is UB's multi-million dollar online poker championship series featuring the top pros and the best online poker players from across the globe; it starts on January 20th and runs through until the 31st. Find further details on the UB Online Championship series at UB.com

By competing in the Play for Haiti tournament at UB or Absolute Poker, players can indulge their love of the game and get in on the UBOC action, while also doing something kind for the tiny island and the people of Haiti.
