It's fitting that in a tournament named in his honor, Doyle Brunson would take the spotlight. Heading into Day 3 of the Doyle Brunson 5 Diamond World Poker Classic, Doyle Brunson holds 283,000 chips, and is just a handful of spots away from the top prize in the $4,761,450 tournament.

The Doyle Brunson 5 Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event began on December 14, 2009 with 329 players. Heading into Day 3, after 2 full days and 10 levels of play, 130 players remain. Included among them are legendary poker player Doyle Brunson and two members of The Brunson 10, his elite team of poker players.

Doyle Brunson will resume play at the tables in 15th place with 283,000 chips, a position that was earned after he successfully knocked out Eli Elezra to improve his position and chip count. Amit Makhija will resume play in 59th place with 142,000 chips and Dani Stern heads into Day 3 in 70th place with 120,200 chips.

The Doyle Brunson 5 Diamond World Poker Classic will resume today at Noon at Bellagio in Las Vegas. The $15,000+400 buy-in tournament features a $4,761,450 prize pool. The top 27 players will finish in the money.

Online poker players can follow Doyle Brunson's success through his twitter page or blog, both of which are accessible from DoylesRoom.com.
