China Threatens Lucrative Phillipines Online Gaming Sector
CHINA is stepping up a crackdown on gambling activity by its citizens offshore, threatening what has become a lucrative industry for gaming operators in places like the Philippines.
China’s embassy in Manila put out a strongly worded statement Thursday, saying that its citizens are being targeted by casinos in the Southeast Asian nation, and that hundreds of millions of yuan are flowing illegally out of its borders to the region.
Paddy Power Pushes Heavy Into Content Game
Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has partnered with online publisher Joe to run a long-form video and audio show called 'Liquid Football'.
Paddy Power has partnered with Joe to produce the show featuring TV presenter Kelly Cates alongside Jonathan Walters, Wayne Bridge and Steve Sidwell.
The company this week also launched a "monster" mag called 'Pitch Invader'.
Simon Clancy, Liquid Football lead producer and head of programmes at Joe, said: "Football has been Joe's heartland from day one, and this show is yet another step in underlining our dedication to the best in football content and journalism. In our lead host - we’ve signed the best in the business in Kelly Cates - a hugely renowned and admired broadcaster who will tie the show together like no one else can. The show premiered on Wednesday 7 August.
