Joey Chestnut has won the 2009 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest for the third consecutive year.  He was a small favorite to win over Takeu Kobayashi.

Chestnut pulled far ahead of Kobayashi.  An average of 7 hot dogs were eaten per minute.  Chestnut set an all time record, gulping down 68 hot dogs, which easily beat the Over of 62 ½ set at BetUS.com

Kobayashi's 64 hot dogs were the most he has ever eaten in the competition.

The IFOCE Nathan's International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest is an annual competitive eating competition held at Nathan's Famous Corporation's original and best-known restaurant at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. The event is held on July 4, and is regarded as the world's most famous hot dog eating contest and a colorful tradition of Independence Day in the United States. An average 1.5 million households watch it live on ESPN.

Chestnut and Kobayashi are considered two of the best competitive eaters to ever walk the face of the Earth.

Celebration followed with a playing of the U.S. National Anthem.
